lolx. all holiday commitments are over, so its SLACK TIME...unless you count falling sick. o.0

im still trying to decide whether lsl camp was a almost a failure or highly successful. i dunno whether the kids really enjoyed it, but it seems to me that they enjoyed it more towards the end, where there was charades and science trail and finger puppets and other more interactive stuff.

but the one thing i can agree on is that the morning was terrible. ><><>

we went back to the centre and decided to give them (as well as us) a break, so we screened mr bean, and then decided on the rest of the program since we were like, hmm, 1 hour ahead. and so we had finger puppets, puppet show, charades, then sci trail as well as the rubber band game, which was totally hilarious. It kinda hit me that the kids in general were more artsy than sporty; they rather have arts and craft, demos, acting as compared to soccer and stuff like that. and the girls didnt like the sports part very much, because it was too, erh, guyish for their taste. yeah. because tammie had to leave, i took over her group, and lucky it was afternoon people - hilda, hannah, nigel and sabrina. there was also this p2 girl i didnt know, who was really quiet, as compared to hannah and nigel (the two loudhailers). terence and alvin, who were really reluctant to join the group, but terence came in at the end, which was better off than irritating the shit out of the rest of the other groups.

hilarious parts -
1. me, fei and nigel arguing about finger puppets.

nigel: eh, dont want, so lame sia
fei: then what do you want to do?
nigel: fold paper guns lah!
fei: cannot! thats so violent, besides, you dont want to do other people still want to do.
[pause, while fei is berating herself for not thinking properly]
fei: okay, i tell you what, how about maze
nigel: huhh, so lame leh
mel: rofl okay larh, nigel, you do maze then the rest do finger puppets lorh. so later we announce, okay, we do finger puppets except nigel, he will ownself go and make maze.
nigel: eh, dont want dont want, do finger puppet then do lorh!

2. rehearsing for puppet show
nigel: eh, must rehearse what we want to do for puppet show
[whole group goes into one room]
[the rest of the other groups start coming in]
hannah: eh! you all go out! we rehearsing!! [at the same time, terence is being irritating, because i ignored him earlier on while making finger puppets]
me: aiyah, we go to the other classroom larh.
[whole group goes to other classroom]
hannah, sabrina, hilda and nigel as well as the other girl comes up with weird storyline as all the finger puppets were disjointed. the total menagerie came up to:

one lady, one apple, one real rabbits and 2 look a likes, one presumed chicken little, one bear, one pair of walking pants, and one submarine.

storyline:
nigel: [high pitched] selling apples! one for two dollah, one for two dollah only!
hannah: hey, i see someone selling apples! lets go and buy some
sabrina: bunny 1 - peep peep peep!, bunny 2-yes mommy!
hannah: how much are your apples?
nigel: [repeats the top again]
hannah: okay i will take one apple!/ okay, i want two apples! [changes with each rehearsal]
sabrina: bunny1- peep peep peep peep, bunny2- yay!
nigel: makes submarine noise,
me: [submarine rises up]
hilda: [bear emerges from submarine] hi everyone!
hannah and sabrina: hello!!!
nigel: [pair of walking pants stroll in]
hilda: AHH! a pair of walking pants!
nigel: [chicken little comes on the stage] i see my pants!
[everyone sings dragostea din tei song and make puppets dance to it]
nigel: okay, everyone stand up and bow okay!

haha, it really amazed me about how they held no qualms back when acting. i mean like, when other primary school kids will be kind of reserved, they actually made up the whole thing by themselves. and it was actually quite hilarious!

3. Rubber band game

because they didnt want to play pass the stick, we decided on the rubber band game instead, and it was highly amusing. the game was to hold a straw in your mouth, and pass a rubber band down the line using only the straw. and since they couldnt talk because the straw and the rubber band would drop, the whole lot was like making urgent "mmm" sounds. it sounded really...explicit. and monkey started to take it explicitly as usual. which resulted in both of us laughing our heads off because the whole room sounding really,...well, interesting. wenting would have loved to be there. and chink went around encouraging them on how to like, pass the rubber bands - "slowly, slowly! man man lai! dont rush", which made me and monkey laugh even harder. man, i sound like some weird peodophile. o.0

4. Puppet show

It still is quite amazing, their storylines, but i must say most of them included killing of the bad guys. o.0 the bad part was that the rest were making so much noise that the red crossers were giving their command voices full use. rofl. but it was hilarious for those that they can hear. lich's stage was excellant, they were gaping at the pullable curtains. rofl. and the parts where they exchanged puppets were funny, because a mass of people was behing, like shouting "eh, cockroach, cockroach! now!" and "where is the bear, eh bears hurry up come out!". lolx.

5. Lao shu ai da mi

rofl, lich bullied my group into singing the whole song to me in exchange for points. and they did really well (wt lich and chris, they hold a tune better than you all. ROFL) because i think they practically memorized the whole song. it was very suprising because terence was there too, and i just went like, wow, they are actually singing the whole thing. nice ending to the whole day. :D

haha, the kids are really cute, but its a terror organizing camp for them. not very likely in the near future am i going to do this for 50++ kids again. by the end of the day i lost my voice -.- but the afternoon people were great, as well as others, like hannah, hilda, sabrina, nigel, chao rui, zhi hao, hannah no.2, azry, melissa, adriel, aloysius. too bad i didnt see the other familar people there as well. its the second last time im seeing them i guess, one last session during july to handle the admin stuff and accounting for the camp. haha. hannah and nigel were asking me to come back during june, but i going overseas. awws.

after serving this centre about 1 year, its quite enjoyable to get to know the kids. totally a new experience with them, because they are completely amazed by everything that you do, and even though they are harum scarum at times, they are responsible (thanks nigel and omar for helping me clean up the room), as well as quite sweet, like azry, heh. as well as aunty susan, aunty rose, aunty serena and aunty mano for helping us, and all the people who came down, like chris, bren, runting , yenlin, luohan, tammie, simmin, 302 people, monkey, toad and the sci trail people. haha even though the actual time to dimiss them was 2 plus, they stayed until about 8 to help. THANKS LOADS.

and LSL people, we actually pulled it off! yeah. hi-fives lich, ching and fei. after months of planning. and the stupid joyceloo person stalling us. its DONE.

maybe we can count it now as a success! :D
